London Inter-Club Table Tennis League
Guidelines
There will be no cost to take part in the league.
The league will be between teams from "the table tennis club" and "La Tamise Ping-Pong Club"
The league is organized by Jeremy Breetzke and Daniel Tessier, who will act as the officials for the league for 2008. Therefore any problems or suggestions can be made to either one of the previously mentioned persons. Please see contact details at the end of the document.
Any dispute that may arise during a league match will be settled by the official on duty at the club in question. The official's word is final and will not be disputed.
If a team would like to change a player or use a substitute that has not been registered at the beginning of the season should notify BOTH officials in advance to obtain permission for the change. Only if permission is received by BOTH the officials can the change be made.
A schedule will be set up for the season. If a team is unable to play one of their matches, they should try to organize another date and time with the opposing team. If any problems arise please notify one of the officials to settle the matter in advance of the set date. It is suggested that the matches take place on a Thursday or Friday depending on the club it will be held at.
All games shall be played according to the I.T.T.F. Rules , which can be found at the following website: http://www.ittf.com/ittf_handbook/ittf_hb.html
The league:
- Score cards shall be supplied by the official on duty at the beginning of each night, or under special circumstances a score card can be collected before hand.
- At the end of each league night the score cards are to be handed to the official on duty at the club. A method of displaying the results and current team standings shall be determined at a later date.
- As there is no fee, there will be no referees for any match, therefore the game shall be scored by the players and shall be run on the honesty system.
- The club hosting the league must provide the balls for the matches. If the club cannot supply the balls, it is the responsibility of the "home" players to provide the balls.
- The balls used must be three star balls I.T.T.F. approved balls.
- The players should organize their own transport to the league match.
Team Logistics
- Each team will consist of 3 players.
- Each player is to face every player from the opposing team once in a "best out of 5" match. After the singles matches are completed a single "best out of 5" match of doubles is to be played.
- One point is awarded to the team if one player beats their opponent, similarly one point is awarded to the team that wins the doubles match. Thus the highest number of points one team can obtain in one night is 10 points.
- Each team shall meet every other team once in the round robin stage. The top 2 teams shall meet each other in a finals match. The finals match will take place at the home club of the highest ranked team from the round robin stage.
- The 2 top teams will be the 2 teams who have collected the highest number of points through the round robin stage
